Meet Your AUTHOR & illustrator

Greg Johnson is a storyteller, family man, and President and Co-Founder of Orbital Socket, a Charlotte-based brand strategy and design agency. With over 25 years in marketing and communications, he has worked with Nike, Jordan Brand, Wells Fargo, the Charlotte Hornets, and Bojangles. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media, he founded Day 41 Media to bring stories closer to home.

In 2009, Greg packed a minivan with his wife, Carole, and their four children, Benjamin, Meyah, Mycah, and Carolina, for a 2,700-mile journey from Oregon to North Carolina. What began as a nine-day road trip became a collection of unexpected detours, laughter, and unforgettable family memories.

Fifteen years later, Greg revisited his journals and photographs to bring those moments to life in The Johnson Family Adventures. Written with warmth, humor, and deep faith, his story celebrates family, unexpected moments, and being present for the journey.

Carolina Joy Johnson is an artist, storyteller, and one of the four children at the heart of The Johnson Family Adventures.

Growing up, family trips were more than places on a map. They were filled with long drives, unexpected stops, laughter, new experiences, and the little moments that made each journey uniquely theirs. Those memories became part of Carolina’s own story and shaped the way she sees family, adventure, and the world around her.

As the illustrator of The Johnson Family Adventures, Carolina brings a personal connection to the story that goes beyond simply creating the artwork. Through her illustrations, she helps bring the people, places, and memories of that unforgettable journey to life.

For Carolina, this book is more than a collection of family adventures. It is a way of preserving the moments that shaped her childhood and celebrating the people who made every mile worth remembering.
